Hello, everyone!
My name is Liyana and I am currently a high school teacher teaching English at a private school in Brunei Darussalam. I enjoy helping students from basic to intermediate English levels, whether we are sharpening conversational fluency or polishing essential presentation skills. I have experience in different levels of syllabi, including: CEFR English, IGCSE English as First/Second Language and Cambridge 'O' Level syllabus.
I am a firm believer in creating a relaxed and supportive environment where learning is driven by active participation. My core motto is: 'it's okay to make as many mistakes as you possibly can!' Mistakes are invaluable learning tools, and my lessons are a safe space where students can confidently experiment and grow. (I deeply understand the challenges and effort involved in learning new languages; I, myself, have learned Japanese and Korean).
When I'm not teaching, you will often find me relaxing with my cats (6 of them!), lost in a good book, listening to music, or planning my next travel adventure!
