Brunei Week in Singapore Highlights Local Businesses

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) has launched the first Brunei Week in Singapore to help promote Bruneian products and businesses. The event runs from September 5–7 at Mak Besar’s Grand Market in the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre.

More than 20 Brunei businesses are taking part, showcasing food and drinks, fashion, lifestyle items, crafts, and even travel experiences to attract Singaporean consumers.

Brunei’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Her Excellency Hjh Noor Qamar Hj Sulaiman, officially opened the event. She praised BEDB’s work to help local small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expand into Singapore.

Since 2023, BEDB has helped Brunei products enter the Singapore market. First, through a partnership with Mustafa Centre, then through retail distribution at Meat Aliyah Rizq in Woodlands, and soon through an online store called Flavours of Brunei with distributor Lim Siang Huat. So far, 12 Brunei MSMEs are already active in one or more of these retail channels.

According to H.E. Hjh Noor Qamar, the upcoming Flavours of Brunei platform will make Bruneian products more accessible not only in Singapore but also to international customers. She also said that Brunei Week helps promote the country’s heritage, culture, and business connections with Singapore.

Meanwhile, BEDB’s partner agency, DARe (Darussalam Enterprise), encouraged Brunei businesses to use the event to meet customers and partners. DARe has supported local companies with training, financing, and retail space. Its Bruneian Made program, which offers shelf space in supermarkets and a store at The Mall, has helped companies gain experience locally before exporting overseas.
