Ancient Hand Painting Found in Indonesia

Scientists have found the world’s oldest cave painting on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The painting is a red outline of a human hand on a cave wall.

The hand painting is very old. Researchers say it is at least 67,800 years old. This makes it older than a similar hand painting found in Spain.

The fingers of the hand were changed to look like a claw. This shows that early humans could use imagination and symbols, not just draw what they saw.

These discoveries show that early humans were creative outside of Europe, especially in places like Indonesia. In the past, many people believed art began only in Europe, but this idea is now changing.

Cave paintings are important because they show that humans could think, imagine, and share stories long ago. This kind of thinking helped humans develop language, culture, and science.
